    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

"Without the registration with Search Engines your website will be lost in the cyberspace"

Q: What is PROMOTIONS PRO ?

A: PROMOTIONS PRO is a promotion/submission/announcement service established in 1996. Our goal is to help individuals and businesses submit their websites to various web directories and Search Engines on the Internet (so that people around the world will find your listing easily). The benefit of using a promotion site like ours is that you will only have to enter the information once. This will save you a huge amount of time and prevent from many irreversible mistakes if you are trying to submit your site yourself and are not experienced with search engine submissions.

Search Engines are huge databases that contain information about Millions of websites. Yahoo (www.yahoo.com), Google (www.google.com), Alexa (www.alexa.com) are examples of such engines.

By using a search engine, anybody can quickly and easily find a web site with the information needed by entering related keywords. So ask yourself, "Can Internet users find my site when they need my information or service?" By registering your site with the Search Engines, this will allow people to easily locate your site!

This is the main function of our program and it is designed to submit your web pages to 1000's of Search Engines, Directories, Free for all Pages, and Free Classified ad sites around the globe.

Q: Regarding your promotion, is this a one time fee? How long will I be listed?

A: It's a one time process (and a one time fee) to register your website with over 800 (1600 in Giant Step) Search Engines and Internet directories. Most of the traffic to your page will come from visitors using the Search Engines. All Major Engines will keep your listing infinitely after one submission.

However it's a wise decision to resubmit your site once in a while. (Like every 3-6 months, to retain good position on top of the listings).

Q: I purchased the Giant Step for $49.00. is this a one time investment and for what period of time?

A: Beside the major engines we submit your site to engines and directories related to your business. It's a one time process (and a one time fee) to register your website with over 1600 Search Engines and Internet directories. Listings in the engines and directories related to your business should direct targeted customers searching for the particular product or service related to your business.

If you update/change your site frequently, it's important to update the engine registration as well. Simply order your submissions every 3 - 6 months to keep it current. Still some engines, in order to make space for the new entries, delete some files. This is beyond our competence. Our main goal is to list your site in all major engines.

Q: If we register our webpage how long will that last??? Will it last as long as we have the web page??

A: After your registration process is complete, most major Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, Alexa, etc., will index your site and keep your listing infinitely.
However, if you update/change your site frequently, it's important to update the engine registration as well. Simply order your submissions every 3 - 6 months to keep it current.
Still some Engines, in order to make space for the new entries delete some files.
Few, (in most cases less visited directories or classifieds sites), delete files every 1-3 months or so.
Generally, if your's a Business Site and you are really serious about the presence of your site in search engine’s files (so that people around the world will find your listing easily) it’s very important that you resubmit your site as frequently as it’s possible. Every 3 to 6 months is efficient in most cases.
Without the registration, your site will be lost in the cyberspace.

Q: After submission process I have received many confirmation emails from Search Engines and especially from FFA links. They often include their own promotional materials. What should be done?
A: An increasing number of Search Engines and FFA pages are sending email auto responders to acknowledge receipt of submissions made and in many cases promote products associated with the companies running the Engines.
This results in lots of emails you have received during our submission process.
We could of course remove the Engines that send the emails, but these Engines are useful, they help your ranking in the bigger Engines though back link counting, and do get traffic in their own right.
FFA links usually include their promotional material along with the confirmation. You should just ignore it if you are not interested in their products or services.
Our goal is to register your site with the MAJOR - IMPORTANT Engines, and those never send any confirmations.
It could be a good idea to open a seperate free email account (with Yahoo for example) just for the time you promote your site with us or do it on your own. This common practice will keep your master email account free from those confirmations.

Q: I have a website that I want placed on various Search Engines but I know that I may have them already placed on few major Search Engines. If I have you submit these again, will you skip the Search Engines I already have them placed on or are they overwritten?

A: It's usually beneficial to resubmit your site once in a while. Before the submission process, we will check your site listings on the major Engines and your site position there. If it's listed on top, and the description is right we will skip those Engines.

Q: How long time it takes before people can find my site?

A: Different submission sites handle indexing in different ways. Some sites send you notification via "auto-responder" immediately following the submission of your form. (Very few only). Most major Engines give no notification at all. Some sites will register your site immediately. Others take a few days, and a few (major Search Engines) state that users should expect to wait 6-8 weeks before being listed. In the end, though, the final posting decisions are at their discretion.

Q: Why do you need our address and phone numbers?

A: The different directories and especially various internet Yellow Pages ask for address and phone number to index your site.

Q: Why is the keyword area limited to 20 words?

A: The some important Search Engines only accept so many words for keywords. The field is set for the maximum possible. If you try to exceed 20 keywords, your site could be rejected by some Engines.

Q: What do I have to do to submit my page to the Search Engines ?

A: All you need to do is to fill out the order form.

Q: How often should I submit my website?

A: Whether it is for the same page or a different one, PROMOTIONS PRO is always here to help you. You should submit your website every 3 - 6 months. This will allow the engines to re-index your site and will keep your listing active.

      Q: How to use keywords?

A: Most important Engines index both the full text of the eb page you submit as well as the metatags within the site's HTML. For example, when a searcher enters a keyword to conduct a search, most Engines will first look for the presence of that keyword on your Web page. If the keyword is present, your site will be included in the search results. If the keyword is near the top of the page, in a headline or title, in the meta-tags in the site's HTML and/or appears frequently on the page, your site will appear sorted higher in the search results.

Q: How long will it take until I can see my site in the Search Engines and directories I submitted to using PROMOTIONS PRO?

A: It varies. It can take from 0 to 90 days. Some Search Engines listings are permanent, other will guarantee a specific time frame, some will not. PROMOTIONS PRO has no control over the time frame.

Q: Can you guarantee that my site will be listed on top of Search Engines?
Or that it will be listed at all?

A: The answer is NO! No one possibly could.

You will receive the email from us - the confirmation log of submissions. The log means that we’ve sent the requests to all of the Engines, indexes or web directories to index your website. Only very few Engines/directories will notify you directly that your page was accepted. The majority, will never send any confirmation at all. It's up to each individual company that owns and maintains the Engine, to add your listing. The Engines may take up to 8 weeks or more to update their data.
Just to see how it works, you could try yourself to submit your URL manually to Yahoo, Alexa, Google or any other. (It won't harm your site at all to re-submit, especially if you have made changes to your site).
What you will see is, that it will take a long time to get your site indexed (if it will be indexed at all!). This is beyond our competence, and that’s why we don’t give any guarantee of any kind.
No legitimate company in this business possibly could.

Q: If you add my site to the Engines I'm already listed with.
      What happens then?
A: Usually there is no harm to submit to the Engines that your site is already listed. Especially if there are new changes or additions to your site. In cases that your site is listed really on top (like in 5 top listings) you can make a note when ordering your submission package. (Example: "exclude Google and Yahoo!")
With our Giant Step we'll check your site ranking with all Engines before the submission process starts.

Q: How do I know whether my page or name was successfully submitted?

A: Some Search Engines will email you a confirmation message when your information has been successfully entered into their database. (at this time only few). After the submission process is completed we will email you a full log of all submissions.

      Q: What are metatags?

      A: Click here
